DAY THREE:
We decided to rest. I still was woken up by the sun early hours, so I did spend a few hours reading again (although this time I sat inside with the blinds open so I could still see the view, but I wasn’t exposed to the pollen, as I was still feeling sore and swollen from the hay-fever attack the day previous). The morning of the Wednesday was also when I started writing a new short story. I am hoping to add to it each day and have something complete by the end of the summer, but we’ll see how it goes.
We had pancakes again for breakfast, before starting a day filled with board games. We played sushi go, mysterium and cosmic encounters, although some games we played multiple times and we did take breaks too.
For lunch, we made ourselves afternoon tea for four. We had:
– vegan peppered beef and salad sandwiches on fresh, seeded bread
– sheese and onion crisps
– ritz
– Welsh cakes
– Vegan caramel shortbread
– Bara brith
Also, Sam made us iced teas and coffees. The coffee used North star beans, oatly chocolate milk and unsweetened almond milk (and it was so so so good)!
DAY FOUR:
We went for a walk around Llwyn-onn reservoir in Brecon Beacons national park. We took a picnic and walked for about 2 and a half hours. In the evening we played some board games, I cooked us spag bol, and we had our final night in the hot tub under the stars.
[side note: I was VERY sick that night with anxiety, because Rodger – our car – started making the loudest noise on the way back from the reservoir and, by the time we got back to the lodge, everything was closed so we had to wait until the next day to find out if we could actually get home or if we had to spend lots of money to fix the car. Subsequently, I literally got one hour sleep which was not the way I wanted to spend our last night… But the good news is Roger was fixed before noon the next day so all that worrying was for nothing!]
Later that day we went in the hot tub, and lounged about listening to music. Then I cooked us all a vegetable curry with sweet potato, carrots, onion, tomatoes and cauliflower in. We served it with vegan garlic and coriander naan and we had chutney and poppadoms for starters. We finished off our chill day by playing dobble and exploding kittens casually for a couple of hours.
DAY FIVE:
We had to get up early to get Roger fixed. We found a lovely vege and vegan cafe to have breakfast and, we were going to stop in Chester but, as I was so tired, we drove straight home instead and had a board game day, the four of us, at mine and Sams place instead. It was very very lovely!
