The Details

We spent a day in Himeji during our holiday. I was the only day that was overcast, but we were lucky it did not rain. There were times where there were blue skies, however the photos look a bit more gloomy than it actually was. The temperature was about 24 degrees, so not cold at all, and there wasn’t a wind to make you need any coat. We caught the train to Himeji. I took about an our and a half, and we were lucky to have seats most of the way there and all the way back. I enjoyed looking out of the window at the passing cities, looking at how the architecture of the houses changed form place to place and trying to make note of roofing styles and window placement, for next time I need inspiration for my Sims 4 builds. As we passed through Kobe, my eyes shone, as I saw the city I have dreamed of for so long, pass before my eyes. The train passed along the coastline at points, and we got to see the sea from our window, as we sat in awe, taking in all the sights.
We arrived in Himeji just after 10am. We walked down the main stretch all the way to the castle, stopping ever couple of minutes to take in the size of the fortress as it got closer and closer. Sam and I have spent many a moment counting our blessings since we arrived in Japan; so much has happened that we just cannot be more thankful for these opportunities and experiences! Seeing the castle close-up was incredible! Cannot recommend it enough if you’re in the Kansai area and want to see another beautiful attraction.
After the castle, we were going to get food but the place I had planned to go wasn’t open yet, so we walked back to the main shopping center and did some shopping. By the time we remembered about food, it was past lunchtime and we needed to eat ASAP, so didn’t have chance to walk to the place we were originally going to go. Luckily though, the shopping center had a bagel&bagel and we found out the plain bagels, the blueberry bagel and the maple walnut ones are vegan and soy-free, so we bought half a dozen and munched on them whilst we waited for our train back.
Sorry this blog wasn’t more interesting, it is just a short one with not many pictures, but we wanted to make a long of the day nonetheless as it was really lovely and wonderful and we’d like to treasure the memories we have on the city. The next blog I post might be a bit of a longer wait, as I’ve started work and we’re kind of just getting. However, I will keep taking the occasional photo of the things we do on my days off and the food we are eating, and hopefully I can write another blog post for you all soon.
Thanks again for all your love and support and I hope we get to catch up soon
All the best!
-Alice
