Our First Xmas in Japan

So, this post is long overdue. I am so sorry everyone! As you can see, I have been updating my blog, changing sites over and it turned out to be more of a kerfuffle than I’d hoped. There’s still a lot of changes I want to make to this new blog, but for now, the bare bones are there and I hope you guys like what you can see so far. Anyway, now I finally have a structure, I can get back to blogging and what a better way than getting you all caught up with our Christmas excursions!

Before Christmas began, we went to watch the seasonal fireworks in Odaiba, went ice skating, made gingerbread houses, decorated festive wreaths, we explored so many of the Christmas illuminations and went to see the new Avatar (for anyone who doesn’t know this already, the first film is my favourite movie of all time so I have been excitedly awaiting this release for 13 years, so going to see it was a huge deal in our house)! I took so many pictures, and will put the ones I like best below.

When it comes to festivities, we hosted two little Christmas parties for friends: one on Christmas eve, and one on Christmas day. Both days we cooked a traditional English Christmas dinner (but of course featuring our homemade vegan seitan roast), and we had nice drinks and listened to music and even got to watch Arthur Christmas in Japanese a couple of times, after accidentally renting that version instead of the English one – it’s okay though, it helped us with our studies haha!

On Boxing day, we ate all our leftovers, played computer games together and called family back in the UK. It was a great way to de-stress after the chaos of all our food prep running up to Christmas. Knowing I have quite a few days off, we decided to do a very cheap, budget travel excursion, similar to our Obon holidays, despite being exceptionally tired. I will do a post about these day trips later today, to ensure the photo-dump on each isn’t miles long. Speaking of photos, I’ll stop babbling on and get to the pictures of the Christmas period for you!

Thank you so much to every one of you that reads my blog. Thank you for being patient, through the terrible format of the old site. Thank you for caring about mine and Sam’s life together as well as sending us well wishes and love, always. We are so utterly grateful to have each of you in our lives. Hope you liked this post and please do look out for the next one soon after, because that has all our day trip details on – you certainly won’t want to miss them! (Mini spoiler: they are stunning!)

    1. Yeah, it’s really my name haha, as much as I love the great man himself, I also hope to be a writer someday so would love to have people associate me and my face with “Alice Cooper” as well as the rock legend ha… so trying to avoid myself merging references of him and my writing if I can help it, hence the differing blog name – although he’s definitely inspired a lot of my quiz night team names over the years! 😀
